In an historical team victory, our Junior Girls Football team travelled to Enfield and delivered an outstanding team performance. It took the full squad effort, from players 1 to 24, to achieve this result, with the substitutes playing a crucial role in making the difference when called upon.
The defense was superbly marshalled by captain Mia Carry Brodigan, who led with determination and composure. Full-back Ema Salacan was equally impressive, reading the game brilliantly and shutting down Enfield’s attackers throughout the match. Together, they ensured the opposition had few opportunities to trouble our goal.
In the middle of the park, the midfield duo of Emily Moore and Emily Rose Brennan put in a tireless shift. Their control of the game was exceptional, dictating the tempo and driving the team forward. Both girls were rewarded for their efforts with a point each, showcasing their ability to contribute both defensively and offensively.
Up front, the forwards were in fine form. Tegan McCabe was a constant danger, racking up 4 points with her sharp shooting and excellent link-up play. Holly Farrell was simply unstoppable, netting 2 goals and 3 points in a brilliant display of finishing. Niamh Tierney added a well-taken goal, while Malvine Prancane chipped in with a valuable point to cap off a superb attacking performance. The forwards worked together seamlessly, creating numerous chances and keeping the pressure on Enfield’s defense.
Goalkeeper Lily Mae Needle was outstanding in goal, making crucial saves when it mattered most and keeping the team composed at the back. Her efforts allowed the team to push forward with confidence.
What made the difference, however, was the full depth of the squad. The substitutes came on and provided fresh energy, maintaining the team’s momentum and contributing in key moments. Their impact was vital in seeing the game out and securing the win, proving that every player had a part to play.
This victory was a true team effort from start to finish, with all 24 players playing their role in what was a memorable performance in Enfield. The girls can be proud of their teamwork and resilience, as they continue to grow stronger with each match.
Massive thank you to their managers Ms. Miriam Byrne, Ms. Eimear McEnroe and Ms Ciara O'Brien for their tireless efforts and encouragement.
