Hard luck to our Soccer Team Under 19 divsion 2
Drogheda Grammar School 3 - 1 St. Ciarán's
A depleted St. Ciarán's squad fought hard, battling through injuries and playing out of position with immense heart and spirit. The character our teams have shown in recent years shone through in every moment.
Quick start from Drogheda Grammar School with a 2-0 lead inside the first 30 minutes thanks to a penalty and a quick counter, and then a third goal early in the second half.
Matteo Brady in goal was outstanding, pulling off a string of one-on-one saves to keep us in the game. St. Ciarán's grew into the match and were unlucky not to score through Dara Brennan, with strong showings from Cian Madden and Jake Coyne. The team finally found a reward with a superb 25-yard strike from Cai Mason Jones, followed by a strong finish.
Big thanks to everyone for their hard work, in particular their coaches Mr Carney and Mr Crawfprd. Hopefully things will go our way next time as the team is set up well for the next two group games!
