St Ciaran's CS 39 - Cross and Passion SS Kildare 10
At a windy but dry "Park Ri The Grange" Ciaran's came out on top and led right from the start with an early penalty awarded cooly dispatched over the posts by J Prior. The management made some changes to the pack following on from last weeks win over Mary's. The against the head battle was one by Ciaran's and they set down a marker that it was to be long day for the visitors. Trys came from a mixture of Ciaran's backs and forwards which was pleasing. There were some changes in the back line also with D Daly coming into outside centre and D O Brien deputising for the unavailable M Chang, the former putting in a huge effort and tackled hard all match. An unconverted try both sides of the interval by the Kildare outfit did little to rally their spirits. Eoin Ennis got in for a cheeky dart while the ever present Darragh Rock slid in for a second. Ciaran's led going into HT and with the wind against them in the second half they really ramped it up. Trys from K Brady, P Lydon, R Moran and Z Boshell quickly quelled any notion of a fight back from Cross and Passion. It could have been more if ball had gone to hand. J Brainard was very unfortunate after a well worked multi phase play up the far touchline. Extras were tacked on by L Farrelly and J Clarke.
A quarter final beckons against either Patricians Celbridge or Templeogue College. Well done to all including the bench all who got some valuable game time and food for thought for the management going into the next match.
