In light of the rising numbers of cases of Covid-19 and advice to be as vigilant and responsible as possible to prevent the spread of the virus.
For the health and safety of teachers and all our students The Deputy Principal and I have made the following plans:
Cancel all extracurricular activities and educational trips
There are number of reasons for this –
To reduce the number of contact opportunities for students and staff, especially sporting activities where drink bottles, jerseys and contact sports are high risk.
Also educational trips where travel and participation involves mixing in environments where there is possible extra exposure to the virus.
Class contact time is sacrosanct in order to best prepare our students for project completion and exam preparation. Year Heads have already suggested to students that it is important to have books and materials at home.
We have asked Teachers to prepare and communicate work for all students to complete at home should they need to. Office365 email /shared spaces such as OneDrive or teams can be used for this purpose.
We will use tutorial time to remind students:
Of good hygiene practices – follow the link below for more information
Remind students of the importance of limiting physical contact and being mindful of personal space, availing of fresh air during break times, washing hands thoroughly and frequently and respecting hand sanitisers /soap provided for this purpose in all toilets. (Students & cleaners have reported students purposefully spilling and wasting soaps provided also toilet paper. These are in short supply)
We will continue to share with you, the most up to date advice as it becomes available to us using our school website, texts and social media. Please ensure your contact details in our system are up to date..
Thank you in advance for all of your support and ongoing cooperation with this.
Kind regards,
Cara Mc Loughlin & Angela Flanagan
